Anna Grace is a proud storyteller across all narrative mediums, both as a creator & as a performer. They're passionate about telling stories that connect, & innovating the medium while doing so. As a director for the stage and screen, a dramaturg, a narrative writer, & a passionate creative collaborator, Anna Grace is committed to telling the story that needs to be told.
Stage Direction
With their directorial debut of Larissa FastHorse's The Thanksgiving Play with Emerson College's Mercutio Troupe, Anna Grace solidified their passion for & approach to directing for the stage. Through play, collaboration, & leadership, Anna Grace made her ambitious conceptual vision for this piece a reality. They worked with an absolute dream team of over thirty theatre-makers, guiding each of their outstanding creative instincts towards a collective creative vision.
Filmmaking
Anna Grace has a profound love for the art of film, both in front of & behind the camera. They hope to further their investigation of the human condition through screenwriting, directing film, & cinematography. Her work particularly focuses on issues of feminism, & they hope to soon broaden their filmic horizons to further her other social justice-related motivations.
Anna Grace's debut short "The Shedding of Skin," which played at the All-American High School Film Festival in New York, centers around a young woman on a healing journey from an event of sexual assault, & discovering a newfound sense of sisterhood among her feminine friends.
Dramaturgy
As a dramaturg, Anna Grace is investigative, creative, & involved. She throws herself into her research, unpacking the inspirations, creative intentions, history behind, & modern context of the pieces she works on & their authors. Their dramaturgical goal is always to keep every member of the creative team on the same historical & thematic page, using their work to help everyone accomplish the director's creative vision.
